Thanks. I have done exactly what you describe. Even after saving or publishing the post, with this custom field remaining, I can still click on the "visual" tab and enter the visual editor.

Thanks for the comment. In order to implement the plugin go to the post you want to edit. In the Custom Fields create a field called 'deactivate_visual_editor' and enter the value 'true'.

see example http://plugindve.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/dve.jpg

let me know if that doesn't work

It would appear this plugin is not valid for WP 2.8.4, is this right? If it is supported, then perhaps I do not understand how to use it after it is activated, as I do not see any options when editing a post. I suspect it simply is not working on this WP version, can you confirm?

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. I just tried it on 2.7.1 and it seems to work fine. It is still on wordpress at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/deactive-visual-editor/. (Note the typo in the name when I created this plug-in - deactive instead of deactivate. I will hopefully get around to fixing that. :)

Excellent plugin. Please keep it updated - I can't live without it, as I keep enabling and disabling the editor when working with embedded videos and messy html :)
